These services are designed for Year 11–13 students and recent school leavers who feel uncertain about what comes next - whether that’s choosing subjects, exploring tertiary study, considering trades or training, or stepping straight into work. They’re ideal for young people who want clarity, confidence, and a plan for their future direction.
Career Compass is best for motivated students who are ready to explore their options and take next steps independently (or with light guidance from parents or caregivers).
Career Navigator is for students who need more hands-on support - those who tend to procrastinate, feel stuck in indecision, or resist career help from parents or caregivers. It provides additional accountability and guidance to help turn insight into action.
Career Compass is usually completed within 2–3 weeks, while Career Navigator runs over 6-8 weeks to allow time for reflection, decision-making, and action planning. Both move at the student’s pace.
My guarantee: if the student (and their parent/caregiver) don’t walk away with greater clarity and confidence about their next steps, I’ll meet with them again at no charge to re-map their options. My goal is for every student to finish feeling informed, confident, and capable of moving forward.
I use professional, evidence-based career tools that measure strengths, interests, and aptitudes. These insights are combined with a personal conversation to ensure the guidance feels relevant and realistic - not just a computer-generated list.
I believe there’s no single “right” path - just the one that fits each person best. University can be an excellent option for students who need a specific qualification for their chosen field, but it’s not the only way to build a successful career. Apprenticeships, on-the-job training, vocational courses, and entry-level roles can all lead to meaningful, well-paid, and rewarding futures. My focus is on helping students make informed choices that suit their interests, strengths, and long-term goals, so they don’t waste time or money heading down the wrong path.
My goal is to help young people move from confusion and comparison to clarity and confidence. Career guidance isn’t just about choosing subjects or courses, it’s about understanding who you are, what you’re good at, and what matters to you. Many students feel anxious or overwhelmed trying to keep up with what their friends are doing, but through this process, they begin to recognise their own strengths and unique potential. The result is greater self-awareness, reduced stress, and the confidence to make decisions that truly fit, rather than following the crowd.
Many of the students I work with have learning differences or unique ways of thinking and processing information. I take these factors into account throughout the process, using a supportive and practical approach that recognises each student’s strengths. My goal is to help identify realistic and rewarding pathways that suit how they learn and thrive, so they can feel confident and capable about their next steps.
Parents are welcome to provide background information, however I find it most helpful to meet with the client individually (unless there are specific individual needs) as the focus is on helping the young person take ownership of their future direction. For Career Navigator, parents receive progress updates so everyone stays aligned and supported.
Sessions are held in person in my Hastings office or online via Zoom. Online sessions work just as effectively - perfect for students outside the region or with busy schedules.
