Like many people, my career wasn’t something I designed - it just… happened.
I studied politics and religious studies (fascinating, but not exactly career-friendly), followed by post-grad diplomas in teaching and journalism. Teaching wasn’t the right fit, but journalism led me into a 20+ year career in marketing - including running my own marketing business since 2007.
From the outside, it looked like success. But in my early 40s, I hit a turning point. Something wasn’t working. I was juggling family life, running a business, and trying to do it all. My work felt stressful, flat, and disconnected from who I really was. It didn’t bring me joy - and I realised I’d never truly chosen it: my career had evolved by default, not by design.
That moment of clarity changed everything. In 2017, I worked through my own intentional career transformation which resulted in retraining and gaining professional career guidance qualifications. Since then, I've been working as a career advisor to teenagers and adults, empowering them to embark on best fit pathways and make positive changes to their career situations.
I discovered through personal experience that it's not too late to make changes, and that the right work doesn’t drain you - it energises you. I found purpose, motivation, and joy in my career. And I knew I had to help other people do the same.
