Julia Kay Careers provides subject choice and career advisory services to secondary students, tertiary students and adults. I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to build a fulfilling, meaningful and successful career no matter their level of academic ability.

For students who don’t thrive in a school environment – this doesn’t mean a successful career is out of reach. Successful careers can be built in many ways, including through on-the-job training, vocational qualifications, apprenticeships and cadetships.

For students with good academic ability – for those who are achieving in many areas it’s often difficult to select the best pathway as there are literally numerous options for tertiary pathways. Although it’s become common for those with greater academic ability to be automatically guided towards university, there are more factors to consider than academic ability alone.

For adults who are already in a job and want a change, or have recently been made redundant – my service will help you to identify your transferrable skills, consider career options and set a clear pathway for the future.

For businesses who have restructured – I can help affected staff by working with them individually to identify transferrable skills, and support them on their journey to find alternative employment.

For schools and organisations – I can work with you to provide support to your students/clients to identify strengths and transferable skills, develop a realistic career pathway, and provide CV & interview skills. I can tailor my service to your requirements and the outcomes you are looking to achieve. Please contact me to discuss your needs.

My approach is practical and realistic – I work with my clients to develop an individualised plan that plays to their strengths, values and interests and takes into account everything happening in their life. Each client is treated as an individual – the assessments and approach may vary depending on the needs of each client. I am NOT here to tell my clients what to do – my role is to use my skills and expertise to guide and motivate. I make recommendations for consideration, but at the end of the day it is up to my clients to make decisions and take action.

My daughter finished high school 2 years ago. Although she is academic, since then she has been working and saving money with the intention of heading to university. We enrolled the services of Julia for our Y11 daughter to try and give her some clarity around subject choices for Y12 and possible career paths.
