Career Compass - my foundation careers service for students

For the great majority of us, work will occupy a huge chunk of our waking hours in adulthood. That’s why it’s imperative to identify a career pathway and role that plays to your strengths and brings personal satisfaction and enjoyment.

Career Compass is a succinct, powerful service that helps my clients to really understand who they are as a unique individual, so they can be empowered to make positive decisions for their future. I provide guidance, along with practical recommendations.

Career Compass for teens/young adults

My foundation careers service is suitable for Y12-13 high school students, school leavers, and those who have already commenced apprenticeships/tertiary study (or are working), but are concerned their chosen pathway is not right for them.

Career Compass will help to define a pathway for their future career aspirations. I help my clients to:

• Identify natural aptitudes (skills), strengths and weaknesses, personality type and learning style

• Explore career directions + set goals

• Select suitable subject choices or study pathways

• Develop a realistic plan for them to action

• Create an impactful CV and cover letter (if required)*

• Prepare for interviews (if required)*

Format
Career Compass comprises 2 x 1-hour sessions (usually held approx. 2 weeks apart) with a selection of online assessments and profiling for the client to complete in between sessions. Parents do not attend the sessions, although you are welcome to discuss any concerns or feedback with me prior to our sessions.

Location
Sessions are held at my central-Hastings office, or via Zoom for those who are unable to attend in person. I have clients across New Zealand, so can help no matter where you are located.

Investment
Base cost: $550, which includes online profiling assessments. If you consider the costs (time, money, mental health) of embarking down the wrong pathway, this is a very worthwhile investment in the future.
*CV/cover letter and interview preparation cost additional to the base Career Compass cost (TBC depending on requirements).
